What it actually smells like

Lavender and mirabelle plum open it with a soft, fruity sweetness, and pink pepper keeps it from going syrupy. The heart is the interesting part — cacao and nutmeg give it a dry, dusty cocoa character rather than a chocolate-dessert one, with davana adding a boozy, jammy edge. Bourbon vanilla and amber close it out, with vetiver underneath keeping the whole thing grounded instead of sugary.

This is Asad Bourbon, the sweeter, warmer flanker. For reference, the rest of the line:

• Asad — the dark amber-spicy original: black pepper and tobacco over dry woods, coffee and vanilla. The heaviest of the three.
• Asad Bourbon — lavender and plum up top, a cacao-nutmeg heart, and a bourbon vanilla-amber base. Softer, sweeter and more gourmand than the original, same house signature in a warmer register.
• Asad Elixir — the driest of the three: pink pepper, saffron and grapefruit up top, tobacco and cedar at the heart, frankincense and light amber in the base.
