What it actually smells like

Daarej opens with something most modern fragrances avoid entirely: cumin. It is warm, dry and unmistakably spice-rack rather than perfumery-sweet, and cardamom and artemisia sit alongside it to keep the opening sharp. This first ten minutes decides whether the fragrance is for you.

Underneath, it softens considerably. Rose and orris root bring a powdery, almost classical elegance, and the base is where Daarej earns its reputation — vanilla, tonka bean and amber over sandalwood, patchouli and musk, warm and smooth and close to the skin for hours.

Be honest with yourself about the cumin

Cumin is a divisive note. Some people read it as rich, skin-like and deeply masculine; others find it too close to the kitchen. There is not much middle ground, and no amount of description will tell you which camp you are in.

Is this the men's or women's Daarej?
This is Daarej pour Homme, the spicy oriental built on cumin, rose and amber. The pour Femme version is a completely different floral-fruity gourmand — do not assume they smell alike.

Does Daarej really smell of cumin?
Yes, clearly, for the first several minutes. It settles into a warm vanilla-amber-sandalwood dry down after that, but the opening is genuinely spicy and not for everyone.

How long does Daarej last on skin?
Most wearers get 8–10 hours, with the amber and sandalwood base still detectable on clothing the next day.
